Call Forwarding - Remote

Call Forwarding - Remote allows you to activate call forwarding from a location other than your home phone. By using this feature, you may dial a special code to have your calls forwarded to another telephone number.

How to use Call Forwarding Remote:

  1. Dial the special access number:
    • For BEK Communications Cooperative exchanges and Rural Bismarck - Dial 475-2001.
    • Other BEK exchanges – Dial 1-701-475-2001.
  2. Dial your seven-digit home or office telephone number that has call forwarding remote, followed by your four digit personal ID number (this is the last four digits of your phone number). You will hear three short beeps.
  3. Push *72 on your touch-tone phone (1172 for rotary phone) to activate call forwarding. Listen for dial tone.
  4. Dial the number you want your calls forwarded to. If forwarded to a local number, you must dial a seven-digit number. If forwarded to a long distance number, you must dial 1-area code-seven digit number – (see note two below). When someone answers at the forwarded number, your Call Forwarding feature is now in effect.
If there is no answer, or if the line is busy, hang up and repeat the previous steps again. If you do this within two minutes you will hear a recording stating that call forwarding is already activated. This may result in the placing of two calls.
