Local Students Awarded Scholarships

Nine area high school seniors have been selected as recipients for the 2011 BEK Communications Scholarship Program. 

This year, BEK awarded three $500 academic scholarships, three $500 vocational/technical scholarships and three $500 BEK Broadcasting scholarships. Since the program began in 1994, BEK has awarded a total of $67,000 to graduating seniors.

BEK received a total of 50 scholarship applications this year. Congratulations to the following recipients:

Academic Scholarship Winners
Danielle C. Smith, Century High School. Danielle is the daughter of
Mark R. and ReNae Smith of Bismarck, N.D.
 
Alison Kassian, Wilton High School. Alison is the daughter of Kevin and Linda Kassian of Wilton, N.D.
 
Julia Scherbenske, Kidder County - Steele High School. Julia is the daughter of Arlyn and Lisa Scherbenske of Steele, N.D.
 
Vocational/Technical Scholarship Winners
Hailey Geibel, Kidder County - Steele High School. Hailey is the daughter of Charlotte Beachler of Steele, N.D.  
 
Cole Moch, Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock High School. Cole is the son of Troy and Lisa Moch of Hazelton, N.D.        
 
Alicia Rodlund, Napoleon High School. Alicia is the daughter of Chuck and Geri Rodlund of Napoleon, N.D. 
 
BEK Broadcasting Scholarship Winners
Austin Int Veldt, Strasburg High School . Austin is the son of Adrian and Lori Int Veldt of Hague, N.D.
 
Jaren Bender, Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock High School. Jaren is the son of Greg and Holly Bender of Hazelton, N.D.
 
Aaron Kocher, Strasburg High School. Aaron is the son of Kevin and Theresa Kocher of Hague, N.D.
